Yong Da’s sister, who was my ex classmate, requested me to help her brother to cover his wedding AD. It was a simple yet intimate affair, with mostly close families and friends.

Zeiss Distagon T* 24mm f/2 ZA

leave a comment »

The  Zeiss Distagon T* 24mm f/2 ZA SSM  is a moderate ultra-wide angle lens for the Sony Alpha system. The max aperture of f/2 doesn’t really qualify as “large aperture lens” and it may have challenge when dealing with poorer lighting as compared to its rival f/1.4 makers, Nikon and Canon. However, this prices the lens slightly cheaper than its  f/1.4 rivals.

The build quality of the lens is outstanding.  The lens body is made of solid metal. The focus ring is fluidly smooth and the front element doesn’t rotate.  The lens has Supersonic Motor (SSM), an AF motor based on similar to Canon’s USM and Nikon’s SWM. The AF is completely silent and amazingly fast. The petal-shaped lens hood is plastic made although I prefer it to be metal.

The lens produces moderate distortion which is typically for a lens in this class and slight vignetting with Zeiss is no exception.

Outstanding resolution produced by the Zeiss. Tack sharp at wide open across the frame. Even better when the aperture stopped down to f/2.8 and peak at f/4. It offers flawless performance which offers fast and silent operations.

The lens has the minimum focus distance of 19cm, which allows the user to get really close up with the subject.

Baybeats 2011

leave a comment »

Baybeats is back once again with awesome bands bringing us awesome music which couldn’t be heard on daily radio. I was only managed to make myself available on Day 2. Although a very short period of time, I enjoyed the music festival very much. As I was already very much tire out myself from work, I spent most of the time at The Concourse, quietly enjoy the performance in the air conditioned indoor until the wrap up.
